Latest EOWA Statistics

Does this mean we’re equal?

  • over 50% of HSC leavers are girls;
  • 58% of university graduates are female;
  • Women have access to paid work in all Australian organisations
  • 49% of professionals are women;
  • 49% of property investors are women;
  • 47% of shareholders are women; and
  • 35% of small business owners are women

According to the EOWA, there are strategic interventions developed by organisations over the past 15 years that provide the best way for women to move out of entry level roles and into the heart of the business. These include networking, career tracking, mentoring and succession planning that pay particular attention to the situation of women. (Contact Natural Consulting for training and coaching opportunities in these areas – www.naturalconsulting.com.au or +61 2 9451 7614).

Issues on the immediate agenda, says the EOWA, include:

  • The issues of pay inequity;
  • Discrimination and harassment;
  • Exclusive networks;
  • Workforce participation;
  • Work/life balance;
  • The progression of women into key decision-making roles;
  • Retention of middle and senior level women.

The skills shortage which is about to escalate can be addressed in part by forward-thinking and strategic responses to diversity management.
