Survival Rules

Here are ideas from some of our previous course participants which might help you find a better balance between your home and work life. These women came up with new ideas for them on how to make sure they have fun, spend time with people important to them, renew themselves regularly and so much more …

  • Exercise at least three times each week.
  • Make an ‘appointment’ with someone special each month. It helps you keep people in your life and allows you to spend dedicated time with them.
  • Get your housework done during the week so you free up time at weekends for fun, friends and family.
  • Get over the standards.
  • Make an ‘easy tea’ two nights a week. It saves time and you can spend that better than preparing big meals.
  • Allow some ‘me time’ by doing something special for yourself without feeling guilt!
  • Book in to a hairdresser, beautician or a masseur.
  • Eat together as a family each night.
  • Spend dedicated time with the family each day.
  • Spend dedicated time with your partner and refresh the relationship.
  • Eat healthy food six days a week .. then INDULGE!
  • Spend dedicated time on yourself.
  • Get some regular exercise.
  • Plan your time so you fit people/things in that are important to you.
  • Get enough sleep – find out how much you need and keep it sacred.
  • Put good food into your body so you have more energy (and live longer).
  • Use a diary. Schedule and prioritise and organise to pay bills, record events, jot down tasks and birthdays so you not only remember them things but do them
  • Don’t take work home (mentally or physically)
  • Organise a cleaner to free up time for other things
  • At home, fit in with each other’s work time so you spend more/better time together
  • At home, recognise you each need personal time and respect that.
  • Split and share household duties with your partner and children
  • Respect yourself and others
  • Maintain your own self awareness
  • Work out a new routine eg get up early, apply some self-discipline, shop for the whole week, schedule a healthy diet and exercise
  • Stick to what’s in your diary – do the tasks you set
  • Set ‘me’ time and make it non-negotiable
  • Take at least a half hour break at lunch
  • Allocate a set time for house chores
  • Allocate social time eg for catching up with friends
